Opening water allocations

Recent rainfall has generated flows into all major storages and improved water availability in all systems. The resource manager for northern Victoria announced opening 2021/22 seasonal determinations which have been assisted by reserves established during 2020/21 as well as recent flows.

Wet catchments were responding to rain with any rainfall producing runoff into the rivers and major storages, however, rain is still needed in the coming months to boost storage levels further and increase the seasonal determinations. This is the first time since 2012/13 that all northern Victorian have received non-zero seasonal determination at the start of the year.
