September milk output up 1.5%

Australian milk production rose 1.5% YOY in September with significant lifts recorded across most states apart from Victoria, according to Dairy Australia.

Victorian milk output fell 0.2% YOY in September, bringing season to date output (July – September) 0.6% behind prior year.  Production rose 1.6% YOY in Gippsland and 0.4% YOY in northern Victoria, however, this was not enough to offset a 2.5% YOY fall in production in the state’s west. In NSW, milk intake jumped 7.1% YOY in September, with season to date intake up 8.4% YOY. In Tasmania, output rose 3.1% YOY for the month, lifting July to September intake 3.6% over the prior year comparative. South Australia’s milk production rose 2.2% YOY in September with season intake tracking 2.4% ahead of the same period a year ago.
