Strong Australian exports for March

There were strong trends in Australian exports in March, with cheese shipments up 7.2% for the month and 6.4% higher for the quarter. Increased sales to SE Asia accounted for most of the growth in March. Milk and cream exports were up 59% YOY in March, the ninth consecutive increase, delivering a 68% increase for the quarter. March was the fourth consecutive YOY increase in WMP shipments – exports were up 114% for the month and 64% for the quarter.

SMP exports increased for the fifth consecutive month, up 2.8% YOY in March and 14.7% higher for the quarter, reflecting increased shipments to SE Asia. Fat exports were weaker in March, with butter shipments down 3.6% YOY and AMF 41.9% lower YOY.
